If you are looking for a light creamy chocolate frosting this recipe is the one you want to use. The first thing I do when I taste a cupcake is to bite into the frosting because for me it's definitely all about the frosting. I can guarantee you this frosting will not disappoint.
1 8 oz. brick of cream cheese
1 cup butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa (1/2 cup if you want a darker chocolate flavor)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream depending on the texture you want.
Have cream cheese and butter at room temperature. Blend them together until creamy. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time. Add vanilla and one tablespoon of cream and whip until light and creamy and smooth. If you want a softer texture add another tablespoon of cream.
